On my visits home I often stop to admire Renfrew Town Hall.  As a kid I imagined Disney had stopped by to admire the French and Gothic style, the square tower with corbelled turrets, and thought: This is the perfect design for my fairytale castle. As with a lot of beautiful buildings in Scotland, it was built in the late Victorian period – October 1873. The nearby tenements also have corbelled turrets to complement the town hall. The problem was that town hall mandarins tend to spend great amounts of money on their own buildings while neglecting the needs of their citizens – Glasgow city chambers is a good example.
