Would you get rid of your government for one pound a year?

According to Kevin McKenna, a former Pro-Union stalwart, Scotland would only lose a pound a year if it became independent.

As practically all important decions concerning Scotland are made in England, even by our own Scottish MPs, then the prospect of indepedence seems worth it. Gone would be the excessive expenses charged to the taxpayer by Scottish MPs living in London. The Scottish people would have a say in how the country is run. They would have a choice on whether to go to war or join the EU.

Over the past few years, politicians have been drawn from the elite. Even Labour politicians a traditonally working class party, has only 9% of MPs from manual backgrounds. The mother of Keir Hardie, one of the party’s founders, was a domestic servant and his father a carpenter.

How many states in America or regions in China and India would secede from the rest of the country, and thus, get rid of unpopular governments for a pound a year?

I know I would. .
